Creation of Adam, Adam Naming the Animals, Tree of Life, Adam and Eve in Waterfall - Beautiful Continuity

The Creation of Adam, Adam Naming the Animals, Tree of Life, and Adam and Eve in Waterfall are a cluster of exhibits representing the biblical account of the Garden of Eden. Here you will find Adam and Eve surrounded by lush forest. Wild bears, lambs, humans, and dinosaurs all coexist peacefully in this pre-Fall existence. Exhibits are separated by name only as the physical space demonstrates a continuity that’s used wherever the exhibits are designed to recount a biblical story. The final exhibit Adam and Eve in Waterfall foreshadows a sense of impending disaster as an evil looking serpent stealthily hovers over them, its presence masked by the soothing sound of water cascading down a wall of rocks into a pond where they sit together happily.

The Disney quality construction and design of the room builds on the already well-developed ethos of the museum. Dioramas like this one and Noah’s Ark (up ahead) help sustain the sense of awe and credibility established by the Portico and Main Hall. As implied by the reference to Disney, there is a theme park quality to these spaces, which is both familiar and comforting.

The tranquility of these exhibits serves as a perfect foil to the gruesome scenes yet to come.
